Day 47: Michigan

This past weekend I took a trip to Michigan to see one of my best friends who moved away last summer. I went with two of my other friends. Frankly, it was a blast. Unfortunately, I took hardly any pictures. Michigan was so beautiful. I love Autumn in St. Louis, but there it was breathtaking. The trees were gorgeous. But when we went out I never had my DSLR, only my Point and Shoot, and through a car window nothing came out.
The weekend really rushed by quickly, though, and I'm really glad that I didn't waste time going out of my way to get some good pictures of pretty trees. I did get some pictures on the car trip, and some with my point and shoot, so I'll share them anyway.

A beautiful Illinois sunrise through the car window. I had some that were clearer, but for some reason I kind of liked the lack of focus and the visible window lines in this picture.

My friend Bethany. I really had no pictures of her, due to her habit of putting something in front of her face whenever I try to take her picture. (My friend Grace took this picture, I think.)

In downtown Holland, the coolest shopping place in the world. On the left is Anna, the one who lives in Michigan, I am in the middle, and Bethany is on the right. Grace also came with us, but didn't come shopping because she was with her sister who goes to college around there. (Sorry about picture quality... like I said, I didn't want to lug my DSLR shopping, so these were all taken with the point and shoot.)

Downtown Holland (as implied by the name) is a Dutch area. It had a lot of modern-ish stores, but the architecture was all old Dutch, and there were quite a few very unique shops. It was pretty much most fun shopping I have ever had.

The store above was pretty much the best thing ever. I walked in and almost died of happiness. There was candy. Everywhere. Barrells and barrels of candy. There was new candy and old-fashioned candy, and homemade candy, and pretty much everything a girl like me could ever want. (So much chocolate!!!) I ended up buying over a pound of salt water taffy :) I don't really know why, but I didn't take any pictures of the inside. But believe me, it was awesome.

This weekend was a great break, and it's a little hard to jump back into the crazy swing of things. I can't wait until this week is over. I wish I could go back there again this weekend! :)
